One in four administrative units in the world is affected by political violence and unrest. A latest evaluation of our Subnational Resilience dataset (SURE) shows that since the beginning of 2019, in more than 115 of the 3,800 regions we observe every month, the outlook for long-term stability has deteriorated – affected is inter alia France. Within a few months, one percent of all regions worldwide found themselves in lower resilience classes than 2018 and might face even bigger challenges in the future.
